Bisi bele bhath (bisi bēle bhāt) (Kannada: ಬಿಸಿ ಬೇಳೆ ಭಾತ್) is a spicy, rice-based dish with origins in the state of Karnataka, India. Bisi bele bhath, which translates to 'hot lentil rice dish' in Kannada language, is a wholesome meal.   • For powder
  • 3 Dry red chili
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Chana dal
  • 1 tsp Kasuri Methi
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp Fresh coconut
  • For bhat
  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1/2 cup Toor dal / masur dal
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1-2 tsp jaggery (grated)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Other ingredient
  • 1/4 cup Peas(mutter)
  • 1/4 cup French beans
  • 1/4 cup Carrot
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • few Curry leaves
  • pinch Hing
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

  • For bhat
  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1/2 cup Toor dal / masur dal
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1-2 tsp jaggery (grated)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tsp Ghee

  • 1/4 cup Peas(mutter)
  • 1/4 cup French beans
  • 1/4 cup Carrot
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • few Curry leaves
  • pinch Hing
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
Instructions
  1. For powder :: Take a tava and place dry red chili, cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, kasuri methi, coriander seeds and fresh coconut.
  2. Dry roast all spice for 30 to 40 seconds or till it turns aromatic on medium flame.
  3. Let cool them completely and make a fine powder.
  4. For rice :: Wash and soak rice for around 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, cook rice and dal separately for 2-3 whistle.
  6. At that time soak tamarind in half cup of warm water. squeeze it and filter to a bowl.
  7. Now add spice powder, jaggery and salt to a tamarind(imli) juice.Mix it well and keep aside.
  8. Mash a cooked dal and mix with cooked rice.
  9. Make bisi bele bhat :: Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan and add all vegetables. saute for 5 minutes.
  10. Now pour 1 cup of water and cook vegetable till they are 3/4 done.
  11. Pour the tamarind mixture as well and stir it well. Boil for few minutes on medium flame.
  12. Add rice and dal. Mix it wee.
  13. Furthermore add 1,1/2 cup water. stir it well.Simmer them for 5 minutes.
  14. Cook till the rice reached a desired consistency.
  15. Now time to tadka :: for that heat ghee in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds, when seeds crackle then add cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing. saute for 20 to 30 seconds.
  16. Pour this tadka over the bisi bele bhat.
  17. Transfer bhat to a plate.
  18. Serve hot.
