Onion rings is not just part of Indian cuisine but if you search it is famous and different versions are available in almost all the continents including Europe, Australia as well region around United Kingdom. It is an appetizer usually cooked with batter consisting of Gram flour and some spices. And then deep fried with or without breadcrumbs.

  • 2 medium Onion
  • 1 cup Gram flour
  • 2 Green chili  (finely chopped)
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 pinches Soda
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Water
  • Oil for deep fry

  • 2 medium Onion
  • 1 cup Gram flour
  • 2 Green chili  (finely chopped)
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 pinches Soda
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Water
  • Oil for deep fry
Instructions
  1. Place gram flour, green chili, salt, soda and lemon juice in a big mixing bowl.
  2. Add water and make a slight thin paste.
  3. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  4. Cut Onion in a rings or round shape.
  5. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame for deep frying. Once oil is hot then take 2-3 tsp oil and add into batter. Mix it well.
  6. Dip rings in the batter and then deep fry in hot oil.
  7. Fry till it turn light golden in color as shown in the pic.
  8. Drain and allow excess oil by placing the rings on a tissue paper.
  9. Serve hot with onion and green chili or hot tea(as we do in India).
