For Batter
  • 1/2cup Chana dal
  • 2tbsp Urad dal
  • 2 Green chilli (chopped)
  • 1inch Ginger chopped
  • 1 tbsp or 1/3 cup Besan (gram flour)
  • 2tbsp curd
  • 1/4cup Water
  • 1/2 tspor 1/2 small packet Eno(soda)
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1/2tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4tsp Hing
  • 1/2tbsp Oil
For Surti Locho Masala
  • 1/2tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1tsp  Red chili powder
  • 1tsp Black salt(sanchar)
  • 1tsp Cumin powder
For Serve
  • Fine chopped onion
  • Fine sev
  • Melted butter
  • surti locho masala
  • Coriander leaves (fine chopped)
  1. Soak chana dal and urad dal separately in a bowl for 4 to 5 hours.
  2. After 5 hours, place drained chana dal and urad dal in a mixer jar. Also, add green chili, ginger, gram flour, curd and water in the jar and make a smooth puree.
  3. Transfer puree into a bowl, cover with a lid and ferment to overnight.
For surti locho masala
  1. Mix all masala into a small bowl and keep aside.
  2. After overnight, whisk the batter and add salt, turmeric powder, hing, and oil.
  3. Mix it well.
  4. Take 1 cup batter in a separate bowl and add 1 cup water and 1/2 tsp eno(soda) in the bowl. Mix it well.
  5. Now, grease oil in a steamer plate and pour the batter into the plate. Steam it for 15 minutes.
  6. After 15 minutes, take out the plate and transfer locho to a plate as shown in the video.
  7. Also, add melted butter, sev, finely chopped onion, surti locho masala, and coriander leaves into the plate.
  8. Serve hot surti locho with Green chutney.
